Welcome Valplast Technicians!
Valplast has introduced new Finishing instrumentation and techniques that save a huge amount of time and improve the results tremendously.
I know I know, most denture and partial technicians are accustomed to using a stationary bench lathe for finishing. But you need to give these new techniques a try! Your productivity and experience will improve noticeably!
1. After cutting sprues, use the new Valplast Carbide Bur (Item 20234) to reduce the sprue junction and rough-trim the borders. The Valplast Carbide Bur is used with a straight handpiece at 12000 to 17000 RPM's. It cuts like a dream and grinds the material up into a powder much like handling acrylic. But be careful! It cuts much faster than the Vulcanite (Steel) Bur. It also lasts MUCH longer.
2. After rough trimming with the Carbide, work with the #13 Green Mounted Stone (Item 202G13) for refined finishing. This is also used with a straight handpiece at about 25000 RPM's. This is the same instrument we recommend for dentists to use for chairside adjustments, and it is fantastic in the lab for refined finishing and fitting.
3. Pre-Polish using the Green Silicone Polisher (Item 20225) with a handpiece and a rotation between 15000 and 25000 RPM's. You can adjust the speed to your comfort level. The Green Polishing Point is also ideal for achieving nicely feathered edges and a smooth rounded periphery border that won't pinch the patient on insertion.
That's It! With these 3 instruments, we've cut typical finishing time down to as little as 15-20 minutes per case. Want to know how to cut finishing time down even more? Call us for information about Precise-Fit Digital Prototypes. We can provide you with a pre-fit denture base prototype that requires less finishing than any other partial or denture system, (even faster than laser-sintered RPD frameworks!). Call us at 1-855-623-1111 for more information on these finishing instruments and techniques at the new Precise-Fit digital services.
