Hi Fellow Valplast Techs!
Valplast has recently released new Polishing Compounds. Coupled with some simpler techniques and fewer steps, you can achieve a brilliant shine faster and easier than ever!
1. Start with a properly prepared surface. The newest Green Silicone Polisher (Item 20225) is the best instrument to create an ideal pre-polish surface.
2. Using a Rag Buff (Item 20282) and Polaris™Synthetic Pumice (available in 1lb Jar Item 20291 and 3lb Jar Item 20292) in a fairly wet solution, begin polishing by systematically working your way around the entire outer surface of the denture. It is important to be organized as you polish so that every area gets the same exposure. We also suggest using heavier pressure than you would ordinarily use for acrylic dentures. Be attentive to the teeth so as not to polish the tooth surfaces. Rinse the denture completely and examine the surface under good light or magnification to make sure all areas are uniform. The surface should be completely free of striations with a uniform matte finish. Pumice time is approximately 5-7 minutes per partial.
3. The new Gold Tripoli (Item 20238) used with a dedicated Rag Buff (Item 20282) will get you to the next level of polish. The new Gold Tripoli can be used without wetting the partial and takes you to a foundational shine in 2-3 minutes. Use a slightly lighter touch than with the Polaris at high speed and begin polishing small areas at a time, again working systematically around the surface.
4. To put the high gloss on the shined surface, use Mirror-Shine™ Compound (Item 20290-MS) with a dedicated Rag Buff (Item 20282) at slow speed (1750 RPM's). At the slower speed you can apply more pressure to make sure all crevices are exposed to the Mirror-Shine Compound™. Examine the entire surface, and wash thoroughly before packing for delivery. Mirror-Shine polishing time is only 1 minute or less per partial.
Please call us at 1-855-623-1111 to request the latest Technical Bulletin for Polishing.
The items needed for polishing are also included in the Valplast Polishing Kit (Item 202POL). Many dental offices order the kit so that Valplast® partials can be repolishing without sending them to the lab. Labs also may consider offering the kit for resale to their dentist-clients.
Thank you for using Valplast! Happy Polishing!
